I always hated Junipers in California. They were overused and planted in small spaces where they had to be sheered into squares and balls. As a kid the baseball game was always interrupted when the ball went into the neighbor's juniper patch. By the time you came out with the ball your legs, arms, and hands were scratched, cut, and bleeding. I have come to appreciate the Juniper in it's native habitat where they can grow into their natural form. This one is growing at the lower limit of their range.
